Flash aka Sagz's worst nightmare

FLASH! flash! flash! flash! what can I say about this project!
This was my hardest project i have ever done. Especially when i have never used the programmes in my life. But on the other hand it was a challege and a learning process for me! {Better to have something then nothing!!!}
I decided to take new images for this project because i wanted it to look different and also i could picture the storyline in my head. I didn't really want it to go to one particular direction because then it would be same as others. So i looked at few examples on the internet and came across few designs that was full of randomness (asked me different and unrelevant questions).
Using the influence I was able to produce my design using 'Flash CS3'
I came across few difficult obstacles whilst working with 'Flash';
A) Never used the programme, so didn't have a clue on what I was doing!
SOLVED: (Reading the worksheets and going onto the online tutorial)
B) The buttons didn't worked
SOLVED: (Asking for help from a teacher)
I tried to combine my art and graphics skills into my design template, because I've enjoyed all arty based subjects and designing in the past!
Overall I am pleased with my work i produced, because from learning a programme in a week such as flash is pretty hard work! As a result if i had much longer time to do the project or was to redo the project again i would organise my ideas abit more better (better planning). Also play around with flash, trying out different elemants in the programme.

One shot film Influence - 2

I was influenced by Bridget Riley's design, especially by the layout. I thought the black and white colours merged together created a misty vision. As a result I thought using the simlar technique and method, I should duplicate the idea onto my work because it looked really interesting.
The design is called 'Movement in squares' and it was created in 1962 using a canvas board. I like this piece of work because it reminds me of a chest board, due the layout. Also the way the black and white colours plays upon, it creates a lively atmosphere and adds complexity to the design. I like the way she repeated and varied the same shape to create this illusion of squares dissapearing into deep space. I thought this was very clever and compelling.

YouTube - Ciara like a boy

Ciara's 'Like a boy' video was a major influence on my 'One shot film' project. This was the main reason why I made my film's atmosphere dim and involved alot of black and white shades in the background. In addition I thought it would add great effect and create a dazzling atmosphere.

Now back to my one shot film....

I didn't really know what my film was going to be about at first. But I thought about doing a scene which told different stories and which lead to different paths. I thought this would be exciting and different. Also it would catch the audiences attention! However when i did manage to complete the film. i was finding it hard to find a music track or beat that went with my film. This was a tricky obstacle that I faced because I wanted a song/beat that lead to different paths into the film!

Afterwards I heard my sister's friends song which he produced recently and thought it went really well with my video. His song is about a guy wanting to make ammends with his ex-girlfriend. As a result I thought this track fitted perfectly with my video because when I showed my one shot film to my flat mates without the song, they sensed the film's genre! This gave me great confidence into knowing which direction i was heading towards.

After deciding my storyline, I decided the film was going to be about a guy making mistakes in his life where he blames himself and not others (I did this to create a different aproach).
I called the film; 'Sometimes I know' because i wanted it to go with the music track and the storyline. (Character's blamining himself for the mistakes he made)

For Example: Lyrics; (CHORUS)

Sometimes I know
Sometimes I see
Sometimes I do
Sometimes I leave
I'm tryna get by but I just don't know
Tryna let it go but it won't flow
Sometimes I know, it's my fault you know

(All these words are describing and creating the character's thoughts and feelings. This makes it look interesting because it looks catchy and emotionally very effective)! Also just by hearing the music track alone you can sense what the films gonig to be about. Therefore I thought it successfully worked really well together.

I wanted to create a scene, where the audience can visualize their own feelings and thoughts! Also I wanted to create an unusual atmosphere, to make it look interesting and bring into existence a suspense feeling in the video.

The film has many high-angle shots, i did this purposely because i wanted the audience to guess the genre without focusing the onto the music track itself! I thought this looked engaging and clever.
I came across few problems whilst shooting the film such as, camera movements and lighting. However we dealt with this this good co-ordination skills and group work. If i was to redo the shooting of my film again i wood probably change the lighting effects because i think better lighting would have made the film look more extravagant. Also maybe i would have experimented more with different type of camera angle shots. I think abit more of panning would have made it more successful, however i think the bright green font on my -shirt made the film colours look very curious. I tried to make the film look simple, by making it slow paste and made sure the panning and any other camera movements was done in a slow motion.

Visual Aesthetics; {D-E-A Dhol Enforcement Agency}

YouTube - D-E-A Dhol Team Promo 2

We were asked to look at an object and discuss it in terms of its visual aesthetics. I decided to do mine on my Punjabi Drum 'Dhol'! A Dhol is a double sided barrel drum. The drum is played using two wooden sticks, which are normally made out of bamboo and cane wood. These are called 'Dagga' and a 'Thili'. To play the drum, you have to sling over your neck with a strap, which is usually made out of ropes or 'woven' cloth. I bought this 'Dhol' drum because of the way it looked and the type of wood it was made out from (white wood). The black treble base makes it look very modern and also it gives it a slick finish to the drum! I like the layout of the strings attached to the drum because it looks different to the other drums which are made today.
