I was influenced by Bridget Riley's design, especially by the layout. I thought the black and white colours merged together created a misty vision. As a result I thought using the simlar technique and method, I should duplicate the idea onto my work because it looked really interesting.
The design is called 'Movement in squares' and it was created in 1962 using a canvas board. I like this piece of work because it reminds me of a chest board, due the layout. Also the way the black and white colours plays upon, it creates a lively atmosphere and adds complexity to the design. I like the way she repeated and varied the same shape to create this illusion of squares dissapearing into deep space. I thought this was very clever and compelling.
