Artefact 4

I created this online booking form in 'Dreamweaver CS5' My intensions for this form was to keep it simple and sophisticated. As not everyone enjoys filling out long data and the whole point of an online booking form is to save time.

  • The Form is more secure.
  • Few promotions added, when clicked onto the link it takes them to the website page.
  • Short and Simple, when filling out the data.
  • Star field added for the data that NEEDS to be filled out.
  • Reset button created, so the customer can reset the page when ever, instead of deleting each section.

Client Project - Development 3

I like this website template because the female model in the background, creates a dynamic looks towards the site.

I've tried not to change the colour variation of the website soo much, because the client liked the current colours of the website. Due to them representing his 'Bar'.

The client also wants to keep stable images and news events. However he would like to have a link on his social network group, 'Facebook'. In which he updates on a regular base.

Client Project - Development 2

Development two of the website, using a different model. The purple fur of the models coat bring livelyness towards the design and makes the website look modern.

Client Project - Model Photoshoot

The client arranged a modelling photo shoot with one of its staff members. These are some of the pictures that I aim to use towards the development process.
The client wanted to see whether using a different image of a model would create a different atmosphere within the website.

The designs were created using ‘Adobe Photoshop’, in which I was able to show off my design skills to the client and change any features he did not like or choose.
In addition the client largely liked the colour variations interpreted into the design, as they matched the bar colours.

Artefact 3

For my ‘Artefact 3’ I decided to go back to the restaurants that I had previously interviewed and do a dummy online booking forms test. I created my dummy online booking form on a website called ‘Jotform’. Which I thought was excellent, as I could build any type of dummy form and use it with a dummy database.

The dummy booking forms layout and text was just like a normal restaurant booking form. In which the managers and the staff would fill it in and the data would go to my dummy database, which was my email account.

From the responses I had received, I was very surprised as there were many positives. Even from the Pizza Hut manager that I had previously interviewed. As she found the booking form fantastic and easy to navigate around.

The manager of ‘Feast of India’ found the booking form effective, as it was similar to the one at his restaurant. Additionally the fact that it didn’t have any pointless promotions and gadgets had impressed him.

Overall I was pleased with the online dummy booking form, as it collected the data effectively without any errors and it worked within the industry. However if I was to improve the dummy booking form I would mainly look at the colour scheme used and the online security, as these features were mentioned a few times during the process. One the staff members from ‘Pizza Hut’ had mentioned that he felt his details were not secure enough, which would have put him off using it if it was a real life booking form. To improve on this I need to apply a high security measure to prevent fraud and use a colour scheme that is friendly and cheerful, that can be aimed at all audiences.

Artefact 2

Example of my questionnaire/interview...

For my ‘Artefact 2’ I decided that I needed some strong opinions about the ‘Restaurant online booking form’ so therefore I decided to interview the restaurant managers and staff. In which I decided to do a survey that the managers and the staff could expand their opinions on.

The restaurants that I decided to interview were, ‘Feast of India’, ‘Flamingos’ and ‘Pizza Hut.’ I chose different types of cultured restaurants as I wanted to make it a fair test and gather mixed opinions.

Most of the responses I received from the restaurants were very positive, i.e. when asked about their opinion on the online booking form, the staff and the managers responded confidently. Stating that it was important for the modern technology, the system is easier to use as it collects all the required information needed and is very effective as it gives customers with busy life style to make a reservation with a click of a button.

On the other hand the only negative responses I received were from ‘Pizza Hut’. The manager felt that the online booking form system was a waste of a time and she would not consider using it. Due to it taking away the face to face customer service, in which she thought was very important for the restaurant industry.

I was very surprised with the last question of my interview survey, as only one restaurant manager was familiar with ‘QR codes’. This was surprising because the restaurants at the moment are using ‘QR codes’ for their menus and online promotions.

Overall I was happy with the responses I had collected, as they reflected the real life restaurant online booking form experience. In addition it gave me a clear idea of what my third artefact would be and involve.
